Welcome to the website of Newton Abbot Beekeepers.
A Branch of the Devon Beekeepers Association.

Charity Number: 270675

Our aim is to introduce new beekeepers to the practice of keeping bees prior to starting their own hives. For experienced beekeepers we hope to improve their beekeeping and give them an opportunity to learn new  techniques such as rearing their own queen bees, prevention of swarming and many other aspects of maintaining a healthy hive.
During the summer months we meet at 2.00pm on Saturdays, as in the above picture, to check on the hives and bees. Then return to the Clubhouse for a well earned cup of tea or coffee and cake and or biscuits, whilst discussing what we have seen and taking the opportunity to gain advice on any matters concerning our own apiaries. So learning by practice and experiences. We welcome experienced beekeepers and those who are interested in starting out to  learn before setting up their own hives . The club has spare bee suits etc. so there is no initial need to purchase anything until you decide you definitely want to start beekeeping. All you need to bring is a pair of wellington boots enabling you to tuck in your bee suit to prevent bees crawling up your leg! Please feel free to come along and try the experience: the wonderful world of beekeeping.

We are running a 6 week Beginners Beekeeping course starting in February.

Our 2024 Apiary Honey is now for sale in the club house at £8 per jar, pop in any Saturday during the summer between 2pm and 4pm.
